let the salary of the man be x
so,
x + x*10 per cent = 154000
11x/10 = 154000
11x = 1540000
x = 140000

gamingush: i don't understand
harshit9939: Which step you can't understand

New salary of the man = $ 154000
Increase in his salary= 10%
Salary before increasing be x
then
salary after increasing = x +x × 10%
154000 = x + 10x/100
154000 = x + x/10
154000 = 11x/10
154000×10/11 = x
1540000/11 = x
x = 140000
