x+5=4y-20

x+25=4y........ (1)

x+y=40.............(2)

x=40-y..............(3)

putting value of (3) in (1)

put value of y in (3)

x=40-y

x=40-13

x=27

so total no of handkerchiefs are 27 and belts are 13
