a man has only 20 paise coins amd 25 paise coins in hos purse. if he had 50 coins in all totaling rs 11.25, how many of each kind does he have.

let 20 paise coins are x
and
25 paise coins are y

now , x + y = 50 ------( 1 )

total money is 11.25 rs = 1125 paise

so , 20x +25y = 1125 ------( 2 )


multiplying eq 1 by 20 we get


20x + 20y = 1000 ----- ( 3 )

subtracting eq 3 from eq 2 we get

5y = 125

y = 25

putting this value in eq 1 we get

x = 25

therefore 25 each kind of coins a man have

so, 1125 =20x +25y
