17,43

Step-by-step explanation:

m=s+26

in 5years,

(s+5)+(m+5)=70

s+m+10=70

s+m=60

substituting,

s+26+s=60

2s=34

s=17

then,

m=17+26

m=43

Their present ages.

  {\sf \: Let,}

the present age of son be x years . Then,

the present age of father = (x + 26) years.

{\sf \: after \: 5 \: years \: the \: age \: of \:  }

Father = (x + 26) + 5 = x + 31

Son =x + 5

A/q

After 5 years the sum of their ages will be 70.

{\sf \ \implies \: (x+ 31) + (x + 5) = 70 }

{\sf \ \implies \:x + x + 31 + 5  = 70 }

{\sf \ \implies \: 2x + 36 = 70 }

{\sf \ \implies \: 2x = 70 - 36 }

{\sf \ \implies \: 2x = 34 }

{\sf \ \implies \: x =  \frac{34}{2}  }

{\sf \ \implies \:x = 17  }

{ \boxed{∵x = 17}}

By putting the value of x

present age of father = (x + 26) years

= ( 17 + 26 ) years

= 43 years

the present age of son = x years

= 17 years

Therefore , the present age of father and his son is 43 years and 17 years respectively.
