A man is pulling a trolley on a horizontal road with a force of 200N making an angle of 30 degrees with the road. Find horizontal and vertical components of its force

Given :

Force on the Trolley = 200N

Angle with the road = 30°

To Find :

Horizontal and Vertical components of force

Solution :

  • Horizontal component = FCos∅

      = 200Cos 30°

      = 200 × √3/2

      = 173.2 N

      Horizontal component of force is 173.2 N

  • Vertical component = Fsin∅

      = 200 Sin 30°

      = 200×1/2

      =100 N

     Vertical component of force is 100 N
