a man is raising himself and the crate on which he stands with an accleration of 5 m/s2 by a massless rope and pulley arrangement. mass of the man is 100 kg and that of the crate is 50 kg . if g=10 then , the tension in the rope is ?

Total mass(m) = 100 + 50 = 150 kg.

From the equation,

T = mg + m a .

∴ T = 150 × 10 + 150 × 5

⇒ T = 1500 + 750

⇒ T = 2250 N.


Hence, the Tension in the string is 2250 N.
