Let the age of son be x years.

Then the age of man will be twice as old as his son = 2x.

Given that twelve years ago, the man was thrice as old as his son.

2x - 12 = 3(x - 12)

2x - 12 = 3x - 36

x = 24

If the age of son = 24 years, Then the age of man will be 2 * 24 = 48 years.

Therefore the age of son = 24 years.

the age of man = 48 years.

Hope this helps!

12 year ago
(2x-12)=3(x - 12)
2x-12=3x-36
