Given info : A man looks into a convex spherical mirror of radius 30 cm. If his face is 10 cm from the vertex of the mirror.

To find : the position of image and the magnification are ...

solution : radius of convex mirror is 30cm.

∴ focal length of convex mirror , f = 30/2 = 15cm

object distance from the mirror , u = - 10cm

using formula,

                1/v + 1/u = 1/f

⇒ 1/v + 1/-10 = 1/15

⇒ 1/v = 1/15 + 1/10 = 25/150 = 1/6

⇒ v = 6 cm

therefore the position of the image is 6cm from the mirror just opposite side of object.

magnification, m = -v/u

                           = -6/(-10) = 0.6

therefore the magnification of object is 0.6.
