Let the original amount be x.

Let the original amount be x.After losing 20%, he will be having (1-0.2) = 0.8x.

After spending 25% he will be having 480 rupees

0.8x \times (1-0.25) = 480

 x \:  = \frac{480}{0.6}

= 800
