Answer : Rs. 800

Given that :

A man lost 20% of his money. After 25% spending of the remainder he has Rs. 480.

Let, he had Rs. x as his initial money.

According to the question :

x \times  \frac{(100 - 20)}{100}  \times  \frac{(100 - 25)}{100}  = 480 \\  \\   =  >  x \times  \frac{80}{100}  \times  \frac{75}{100}   = 480 \\  \\   =  > x =  \frac{480 \times 100 \times 100}{80 \times 75}  \\  \\  =  > x = 800

So, he had Rs.800 as his initial money.

We will use X to represents the unknown no.

To find the remainder after 25 % is spent,we know that 75 % of the remainder is Rs. 480:

480=75x
480/75=640

So Rs. 640 is the remainder from the original amount. Now we also know that after spending 20% of the original amount that 80% of that amount is Rs 640:

640=80x
640/80=x
800=x

Rs. 800 is indeed the original amount.........
