Let no of cows be = x;
So 1/3 of cows will be =x/3;

It says no of buffalo is 7 more than one third the no of cows;
So ;
21 = 7 + x/3;
21 = (21+x)/3;
21+x = 63;
X = 42;

Therefore the no of buffaloes = x = 42;

Hope this helps..

cows=x/3+7

x/3+7=21
