Answer:

Man's present age : 40 years old.

Let man's age = a

Let son's age = b

Since a man is 4 times as old as his son, thereforea = 4b In 5 years,

he will only be 3 times as old as his son, thereforea+5=3(b+5)

Apply substitution method :

4b+5=3b+15 b=10

∴ a=40

Answer:

15,45

Step-by-step explanation:

let's say that the sons age is x

then fathers would be 4x

after 5 years sons age will be( 9x+5 )and the fathers age would be (4x+5)

it's given that the father would be 3 times of age of his son

therefore, (4x+5)=3(x+5)

after simplifying we have 4x-3x= 15-5=10

hence sons age now is 10 yrs and fathers is 4x X=4*10=10

after 5 years sons age will be 10+5=15yrs

fathers age would be 40 plus 5= 45 which is 3 times the age of his son.
