Let the ages of the two sons be 'x' and that of their father be 'y'.

According to the question,

y = 3x

Therefore, y - 3x = 0.............1

Ages of the two sons after 5 years = (x + 5) years

Age of father after 5 years = (y + 5) years

After 5 years ,

y + 5 = 2 ( x + 5)

y + 5 = 2x + 10

y - 2x = 5...........2

On subtracting 2 from 1 , we get

=> x = 5

Now, substituting the value of x

y = 3x

y = 3 × 5

y = 15 years

Ans. = The father's age is 15 years.

Hope it helps!! ^^
