Let the cost price of the article be x

Selling price of the article at 12.5% loss = x-12.5% = 87.50x/100

If he had sold at 103.60 more he would have gained 6%

Selling price = Cost price + gain

103.6+ 87.5x/100 = x + 6x/100

∴ 10360+87.5x = 100x + 6x

∴ 10360 = 18.5x

∴   x = 10360/18.5

∴ x = 560

The cost price of the article is Rs 560/-
