Case (i)

SP =Rs 924 Gain 10%

let CP= Rs 100

SP= 100+10=110

when SP is Rs 110, CP= 100

when SP is Re. 1 , CP= 100/110

When SP is Rs 924, CP= (110/100)×924

=Rs1016.4

Case(ii)

SP=924 Loss= 10%

let CP= Rs100

SP=Rs 90

when SP is Rs 90, CP = Rs 100

when SP is Rs 924, CP= Rs (100/90)×924

=Rs 9240/9

=1026.67

Now SP of Both the watches = 2x924=Rs1848

CP of both the watches = Rs (1016.40+1026.67)=Rs 2043.07

since CP>SP, Loss= 2043.07-1848=195.07

cost of each painting = 924

gain on the first one = (20/100)×924 = 184.8

S.P = 924 + 184.8 = 1108.8

loss on the second one = (20/100)×924 = 184.8

S.P = 924 - 184.8 = 739.2

total C.P of paintings = 924×2 = 1848

total S.P of paintings = 1108.8+739.2 = 1848

There is neither gain nor loss in the transaction.
