Question

A man spends 2/5 of his money and has left rupees 90 how much did he have initially.

Answer

Let the total amount he has be ₹ 1

Money Spent by him :

 \dfrac{2}{5} of \: ₹1 \:  = ₹( \dfrac{2}{5}  \times 1) = ₹ \dfrac{2}{5}

∴ Money left with him : ₹(1 -  \dfrac{2}{5} ) = ₹ \dfrac{3}{5}

But, it is given that he has ₹ 90 left .

∴ \dfrac{3}{5} of the whole amount = ₹90

∴ Whole amount =

₹(90 \times  \dfrac{5}{3} ) = ₹150

Therefore, he initially had ₹150 with him
