Given :    A man spent 2/7 of his savings and still had rs 2000 left with him.

To Find :  How much were his savings

Solution:

Let say man saving  =  7x  Rs

man spent 2/7 of his savings  = (2/7) 7x = 2x  Rs

Left after 2x spent  = 7x - 2x  = 5x  Rs

5x = 2000

=> x = 400

Hence  man saving = 7x  = 7 * 400  = Rs 2800

Given:

A man spent 2/7 of his savings.

He still had rs 2000 left with him.

To find:

total savings =?

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Suppose x be the total savings of a man. He spent  \displaystyle \frac{2}{7} th of his savings.
  • Still, he has 2000 left in his pocket.
  • So the total money he had is the sum of  \displaystyle \frac{2}{7} th of his savings & 2000 Rs.
  • Mathematically, it is expressed as:

        x =  \displaystyle \frac{2}{7}\ x + 2000

  • Solve the above equation.

        x -   \displaystyle \frac{2}{7}\ x = 2000

        \displaystyle \frac{7x - 2x}{7} = 2000

        5x = 2000 × 7

        5x = 14000

         x = 2800

  • Hence, a man has total rupess is 2800.
