A man standing between two walls claps his hands once and two echoes are heard;one after 1.0 seconds and another 1.8 seconds later.If the nearer wall is 170m away from the man, calculate the distance between the two walls

due to reflection with two walls.

the first echo comes after 1.0 sec so it is nearer to him,

the second echo come after 1.8 sec so it is bit away far from him than the first.

the nearer is 170m away from him.

since the observer and the walls are stationary

the second echo comes after 1.8 sec, so the sound of clap takes 0.9 sec

the reach the wall.

the distance from man to second wall = Velocity of sound x time take

   d = 340 x 0.9 = 306 mts ( its approx value of speed of sound)

the distance between two walls = 170 + 306 = 476 m
