The average speed of the man is 40 km/hr.

Given,

A man starts his journey at 8 am, and travels from point A to C. He reaches point C at 9 am.

Distance between points A and C = 40 km.

To Find,

The average speed of the man.

Solution,

The formula for calculating the average speed is

Average speed = Total Distance/Total time taken

In this case

Total distance = Distance between point A and C = 40 km

Total time taken = 1 hr, as the man starts the journey at 8 am and finishes it at 9 am.

So,

Average speed = 40/1 = 40 km/hr.

Hence, the average speed of the man is 40 km/hr.
