A man took 375 ml of water in a beaker and dissolved 2-3 teaspoons of sugar in it and also added half a spoon of powder 'A' to this solution. He kept the solution in a warm place. After 4-5 hours he observed the smell of alcohol coming from that solution. Here, powder 'A' added is of (1) Yeast (2) Lactobacillus (3) Paramecium (4) Amoeba

1 Yeast

The reason behind this is fermentation . Fermentation is the process in which the sugar is converted into ethyl alcohol by the help of the bacteria, fungus or yeast and in this case when a solution containing sugar syrup was kept for few hours with yeast ,ethyl alcohol was produced.

Sugar syrup  +  yeast = ethyl alcohol
