let the distance is x km,
so from this question
(x÷30)-(x÷40)=15÷60
10x=300
x=30km

Answer: Distance from his home = 30 km.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

let the distance traveled be 'x' km

If he travel at the speed of 30km/hr, then he reaches office 10 minutes late

Total time taken is given by

\frac{x}{30}-\frac{10}{60}

If he travel at the speed of 40 km/hr, then he reaches office 5 minutes early.

Total time taken is given by

\frac{x}{40}+\frac{5}{60}

Since in both the case, he covers the same distance.

So, it becomes,

\frac{x}{30}-\frac{10}{60}=\frac{x}{40}+\frac{5}{60}\\\\\frac{x}{30}-\frac{x}{40}=\frac{5+10}{60}\\\\\frac{4x-3x}{120}={120}=\frac{15}{60}\\\\\frac{1x}{120}=\frac{1}{4}\\\\\frac{x}{120}=\frac{1}{4}\\\\x=\frac{120}{4}\\\\x=30\ km

Hence, Distance from his home = 30 km.
