Given:

A man travelled:

➳ 17km 500m by car

➳ 20 km 20 m by bus

➳ Remaining by train

Total distance travelled by man is 100km

To Find:

  • Distance travelled by man in train

Solution:

Let the distance travelled by man in train be x.

Now,

Distance travelled by car(C)

= 17km 500m

= 17km+500m

= 17km+500/1000km

= 17km+0.5km

= 17.5km

Distance travelled by bus(B)

= 20km 20m

= 20km+20m

= 20km+20/1000km

= 20km+0.02km

= 20.02km

Now,

According to Question,

↬Total Distance travelled by man =100km

C+B+x= 100

↬ 17.5+20.02+x= 100

↬ 37.52+x= 100

↬ x= 100-37.52

↬ x= 62.48km

↬ x= 62km+0.48km

↬ x= 62km+0.48×1000m

↬ x= 62km+480m

↬ x= 62km 480m

Hence, distance travelled by man with train is 62km 480m.
