Let total distance be ( x km )






Given, 1 / 3 of x by bus
1 / 4 of x by taxi
Remaining 5km by foot



Total distance = x

=> distance by bus + distance by taxi + 5 = x



=> ( 1 / 3 of x ) + ( 1 / 4 of x ) + 5 = x


$= > \frac{x}{3} + \frac{x}{4} + 5 = x \\ \\ \\ = > \frac{4x + 3x + 60}{12} = x \\ \\ => 7x + 60 = 12x \\ \\ => 60 = 12x - 7x \\ \\ \\ = > 60 = 5x \\ \\ \\ = > 12 =x$


Hence, total distance is 12km.
