Towards East = 24 miles

Towards North = 10 miles

Using Pythagoras Theorem,

(Hypotenuse)²=(base)²+(height)²

=(10)²+(24)²

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=100+576

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=676

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=(26)²

Shortest Distance from the starting point to the ending point = 26 miles
