GIVEN :-
- A man walks 10 m east and 5 meter west.
TO FIND :-
- The Displacement = ?
SOLUTION :-
⚠ Refer to the attachment for better understanding.
Displacement = OA - AB
➣ 10 m - 5 m
➣ 5 m east
Hence the displacement is 5 m east.
If we want to find the distance,
Distance = OA + AB
➣ 10 m + 5 m
➣ 15 m
Hence the Distance is 15 m.
EXTRA INFORMATION :-
➵ Distance :- The Total distance covered by an object from initial to final point is called distance.
➵ Distance is a scalar quantity
➵ Displacement :- The shortest distance between initial and final point.
➵ Displacement is a vector quantity
