A man walks 20m toward north. He turns to his left and walks 30m, again turns left and walks 10m,
again turns left and walks 40m, finally turns left and walks 30m and stops. In what direction is he with
respect to his starting point?​

The man walks 20m towards north.

He takes left and walk 30m.

He again takes left and walk 10m.

He again takes left and walk 40m.

He again takes left and walk 30m.

To find,

Final direction of the man wrt the starting point.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

The north, south, east and west directions are mutually perpendicular to each other. And we will assume that taking left is rotating 90° in anticlockwise direction.

According to the attached diagram,

The man starts from point A and travels 20m to reach point B at North direction.

Then the man travels from point B to point C by taking left and reaches the west direction.

Then the man travels from point C to point D by taking left and reaches south direction.

Then the man travels from point D to point E by taking left and reaches east direction.

Lastly, the man travels from point E to point F by taking left and reaches north direction.

Hence, the final direction will be north direction.
