a man walks 4,m east and then 3,m due north then climbs a pole of 12m height the distance he covered

distance is the length of the total path covered by a body. Hence the distance covered by this man is:
4m east = 4m
3m north= 3m
pole = 12m
total distance= 4+3+12 = 19 m!
