Explanation:

distance traveled by the man is the length of actual path

so distance = 4+3+12 =19m

displacement of the man is the shortest distance between his initial and final position

Let , East, North and upward direction is represented bi î,j and k respectively

then displacement of man is 3î+4j+12k

then magnitude of displacement is (3²+4²+12²)^½ or 13m

and it's direction is from initial position to final position
