Given :- A man wants to invest 16850 in bank of his two sons whose age is 12 and 16 years old in such a way that they will get equal amount at an age of 21 years at the rate of 33(1/3) % per annum .Find the share of younger son ?

Answer :-

Let us assume that, share of younger son is Rs.x .Then, share of elder son will be Rs.(16850 - x)

so,

→ Amount of younger son after (21 - 12) years = Amount of elder son after (21 - 16) years .

now,

  • Rate = 33(1/3)% = (100/3)% = (1/3)

A/q,

→ P + (P * R * T)/100 = P + (P * R * T)/100

→ x + (x * 9)/3 = (16850 - x) + [(16850 - x) * (5/3)]

→ 4x = (16850 - x) * (8/3)

→ 12x = 16850*8 - 8x

→ 20x = 16850*8

→ x = Rs.6740 (Ans.)
