A man was involved in a severe motor accident and got his backbone broken which eventually severed his spinal cord. He was in coma for many days before regaining consciousness.

(i). State the chemical that kept him alive while in coma.

(ii). If he becomes paralyzed after the backbone has healed. State one reason for the paralysis.

consciousness is maintained by the activation of cerebral cortex ,a gray matter that forms the outer layer of the brain.

he would become paralyzed because of the damage occured to the spinal cord which would affect his reflexes.
