Answer:

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of persons be x and the total money be Rs y

Given when Rs 12 is given to each person he was short of Rs 6

Hence 12x − y = 6 → (1)

Also when Rs 9 is given to each person he is left with Rs 9

Hence y − 9x = 9  → (2)

Add (1) and (2), we get

3x = 15

∴ x = 5

Number of persons is 5

Put x = 5 in (1), we get 12(5) − y = 6

⇒ y = 60 − 6 = 54

Hence the money is Rs 54.
