A manwalks 7 km in 2 hrs and 2 km in 1 hr in the same direction.
(a) what Is the man’s average speed for the whole journey?
(b) what Is the man’s average velocity for the whole journey

Answer:

Average Speed= Total Distance/Total Time Taken

So,

Average Speed=(7+2)/(2+1)

                         =9/3

                         =3 km/hr

Average Velocity= Displacement/ Total Time Taken

Vav=9/3              (Displacement=9,  as the man is moving in same direction)

Vav=3 km/hr
