Your other responder has this exactly right, but I will chime in, in case you needed to use a probability formula. The situation you present is of two independent, mutually exclusive, binary events--which is the simplest of all probability probems (YAY!) You can restate the problem by asking what is the probability of having a boy AND then having a girl? The probability of each of these events is 1/2. The "and" rule in probability calls for multiplying the probabilities of the two events. Therefore 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4 or 0.25 or 25%
