A massless rope is fixed at one end as shown in fig.
Two boys of masses 40kg and 60kg are moving along
the rope. The former climbing up with an accelaration
of 2m/s² while later coming down with constant velocity of 5m/s. The tension at fixed support will be: (g=10m/s²)
A. 1200 N
B. 1000 N
C. 1080 N
D. 1100 N

Answer:

C) 1080 N

Explanation:

As 40KG Boy is accelerating upwards

T(tension) - Mg = ma

T - 400 = 40×2

T = 480N

As 60Kg boy is in uniform velocity

T = 600N

Total tension = 600+480

;. = 1080 N
