A match box measures 4 cm by 2.5 cm by 1.5 cm. What will be the volume of a packet containing 12
such match boxes? How many such packets can be placed in a cardboard box whose size is
60 cm x 30cm x 24 cm ?​

Answer & Solution:

1 Match Box,

Length = 4 cm

Breadth = 2.5 cm

Height = 1.5 cm

Volume = l*b*h

= [4*2.5*1.5] cm³

= 15 cm³

Volume of 12 such match boxes = [15*12] cm³

= 180 cm³

Cardboard box,

Length = 60 cm

Breadth = 30 cm

Height = 24 cm

Volume = l*b*h

= [60*30*24] cm³

= 43200 cm³

∴ No. of boxes in 43200 cm³ box = [43200/15]

= 2880

The volume of the matchbox = ( 4 ×2.5× 1.5 ) cm

= 15 cm

The volume of the packet containing 12 such matchboxes =( 15 × 12 ) cm

= 180 cm

Volume of the cardboard = (60 × 30 ×25 ) cm

=(1800×25)

= 4500 cm

Packets can be placed in the cardboard =4500÷180

= 25 packets
