We have to find the maximum possible speed of vehicle travelling along a horizontal circular track having radius of curvature 50 m with coefficient of friction between road and tyres is 0.5.

solution : it is based on the concept of banking of the road.

and we know, formula of maximum possible speed of vehicle, v = √(μrg) ,

if μ is coefficient 9f friction, r is radius of curvature of road and g is acceleration due to gravity.

here r = 50 m , μ = 0.5 , g = 10 m/s²

so, v = √(50 × 0.5 × 10) = 5√10 m/s = 15.8 m/s

Therefore the maximum possible speed of track is 15.8 m/s.
