SOLUTION:-

Given:

Initial velocity of hammer,(u)= 20m/s

Final velocity of hammer,(v)= 0 [In rest]

So,

To find acceleration, 'a'.

Time, (t)= 0.02 seconds

=) 2/100 second, we have

Now,

We know that force= m× a.

Where, m= mass & a= acceleration

=) F= 500g × -1000

=) F= -500000N

The acceleration of the nail is 1000 m/s².

Given,

velocity of the hammer, v = 20 m/s

time taken for the hammer to come to rest, t = 0.02 s

To Find,

acceleration of the hammer, a

Solution,

We have been given a scenario where a mechanic strikes a nail with a hammer with a velocity v.

After striking the nail, the hammer comes to rest after time t

Let us assume that the hammer after striking the nail was moving with a uniform acceleration 'a' before it came to rest.

In mechanics, the rate at which an object's velocity concerning time changes is referred to as acceleration.

Mathematically, acceleration can be represented in terms of velocity and time as follows:

a = v ÷ t

Substitute the known values of 'v' and 't' in the equation above to obtain the value of 'a':

⇒ a = 20 m/s ÷ 0.02 s

⇒ a = 1000 m/s²
