A merchant buys 20 kg of a variety of rice at rs. 14 per kg and another 40 kg of rice at rs. 10 per kg he mixes them and sells 1/3 of the mixture at rs. 12.50 per kg. at what rate should he sell the remaining mixture so as to earn a profit of 25% on the whole outlay ​

Answer:

Cost price of first 20kg of rice=20×14=280

Cost price of next 40kg of rice=40×10=400

Total cost price of (40+20)=60 kg of rice=400+280=680

Selling price of 1/3rd(1/3×60=20kg) of rice=20×12.5=250

Let the rate of the remaining mixture be Rs x per kg
