Hey pal!

Here's your answer>>

Total amount of money the merchant had = Rs. 78, 592.

Cost of each bicycle = Rs.970
No. of bicycles purchased = 54
Total amount of all the bicycles = 54 × 970
= Rs.52,380

∴Money left with the merchant = Rs.78, 592 - Rs.52, 380
= Rs.26,212

Ans: The merchant was left with a sum of RS.26, 212.

Hope helped!!
