Solution:

Length of metal plate = 42 cm

Breadth of metal plate = 14 cm

Area of plate = $Length \times Breadth = 42 \times 14 =588 cm^2$

Length of small square = 7 mm = 0.7 cm

Area of small square = $Side^2 = 0.7^2 = 0.49 cm^2$

No. of squares =$\frac{588}{0.49}=1200$

Hence 1200 squares  will be cut
