● Explaination -
- Because of its moderate reactivity, zinc is an amphoteric metal. i.e. it reacts with both acids and alkalies.
- Zinc reacts with hydrochloric acid to give zinc chloride liberating H2 gas.
Zn + 2HCl ---> ZnCl2 + H2
- Zinc reacts with sodium hydroxide to give sodium zincate along with release of H2.
Zn + 2NaOH ---> Na2ZnO2 + H2
