Volume of sphere = π

The metallic sphere is recasted into a right circular cylinder.

Radius of cylinder = 0.5 cm

Vol. of sphere = vol. of cylinder

π = πr^2h

1 = r^2h

1 = 0.5*0.5*h

1 = 0.25*h

1 = 25/100*h

1 = 1/4 *h

4 = h

h = 4

Given,

  • The volume of the metallic sphere = π cm³
  • The radius of the right circular cylinder = 0.5 cm

To find,

  • Height of the cylinder.

Solution,

A metallic sphere of total volume pi is melted and recast into the shape of a right circular cylinder of radius 0.5cm, then the height of the cylinder is 4cm.

We can simply find the height of the cylinder by using the fact that the volume of the metallic sphere is equal to the volume of the right circular cylinder.

The volume of the metallic sphere = π

The volume of the right circular cylinder = πr²h

                                                                      = π (0.5)²h

Equating the volume of the metallic sphere and right circular cylinder, we get

                                        π = π * (0.5)² h

                                1/(0.5)²= h

                                1/ 0.25 = h

                                         4 = h

Hence, a metallic sphere of total volume pi is melted and recast into the shape of a right circular cylinder of radius 0.5cm, then the height of the cylinder is 4cm.
