A milkman bought milk in equal quantity at the rate of Rs. 14 / liter and Rs. 12 per liter and made a profit of Rs. 89 by selling the total milk at the rate of Rs. 13.50 per liter, then how many liters of milk did the milkman buy?

Answer:

Let the 14 rs milk be x litres and 12 rs milk be y litres.

Let the price at which he bought the milk be z

14x + 12y = z -----------------------(1)

Now,

He made 89 rs profit on selling both milk at 13.50 rs

13.5x + 13.5y = z + 89 ------------------(2)

From (1) z = 14x + 12y

Put these value in (2)

13.5x + 13.5y = 14x + 12y + 89

0.5x - 1.5y + 89 = 0

Now factorize this equation and you will get the answer
