A mirror reflects sunlight to give a bright patch of light on the wall, while the lid of a tin gives a larger, less bright patch. Why ?

Because tin is irregular surfaced and less reflection takes place.....

In the mirror there is a shiny silvery surface behind the glass. That reflects the light very well. The glass is very transparent. So a lot of light is reflected. Also the surface of glass is very smooth. So no scattering takes place in various directions.

In case of the lid of a tin, the surface may have scratches. It may have some bends. As it is made of metal some light energy is absorbed by the metallic surface. The molecules on the top layer of Tin absorb energy from the light waves. So the amount of light reflected back on to the wall is reduced. So the image is well spread out and is of less intensity.
