The battle of Plassey was fought in 1757.
Robert Clive conspired with Mir Jafar, the commander in chief of the nawab's army. Clive promised Mir Jafar to make him nawab once the current one was defeated. The armies if Sirajuddaulah and the British met at Plassey in 1757. Finding that Mir Jafar had turned traitor Sirajuddaulah fled the battlefield and the British won.

The Battle of Plassey was fought in north-eastern India on 23 June 1757. Troops of the British East India Company, led by Robert Clive, came up against the forces of Siraj-ud-Daulah, the last Nawab of Bengal, and his French allies.
