A mixture contains alcohol and water in the ratio 4 : 3. If 5 litres of water is added to the mixture, the ratio becomes 4 : 5. The quantity of alcohol in the given mixture is:
(a) 3 litres (b) 4 litres
(c) 15 litres (d) 10 litres

Answer:

4:3 ratio before addition of water

4:5 ratio after addition of water

there is no change in the alcohol

the water change from 3 to 5 when 5 litre water added

it means 5-3=2

2=5 litre of water added

value of 1=5/2

the quantity of alchol is

5/2×4

=10 litre
