if ethyne is burnt in oxygen, it gives a clean flame with high temperature (3000°C ) due to complete combustion of ethyne. Hence, Thisoxy-acetylene flame is used for welding and it is not possible to attain such a high temperature with air. Due this reason a mixture of ethyne and air is not used for welding.

a mixture of ethane and air when it is burnt it gives sooty flame because of incomplete combustion caused by insufficient air supply when ethyne oxygen is burnt it gives clean flame with 3000 degree Celsius. Therefore ethyne and oxygen is used for welding thus without the mixture oxygen it is impossible to attain such a high temperature in the mixture of ethane and air therefore ethane and air is not used
