Total three atoms , 1/3 are oxygen , so there is 33.3333.......% oxygen atom present in water molecule.
But the percentage mass of oxygen in a water is 88.88%. Hydrogen-1amu , Oxygen-16amu , 1 water molecule -18amu so %oxygen= 16/18= 88.88% .
