Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s

Height (h) = 19.6 m

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s2

Now,

First, we have to calculate the time which the coconut took to fall on the ground from the tree.

So now,

h = ut + 1/2 gt2

=> h = 0*t + 1/2 * 9.8 * t2

=> h = 4.9 *  t2

=>  t2 = h/4.9

=> t2 = 19.6/4.9

=> t2 = 4

=> t = 2 seconds

Therefore,

The coconut took 2 seconds to fall on the ground from the tree.

It means that the sound of the coconut after hitting the ground reached to the monkey in ( 2.057 - 2 ) seconds   i.e. in 0.057 seconds.

Hence,

The speed of the sound in air = 19.6/ 0.057

                                                       =343.85 m/s

ANSWER:

343.85m/s

EXPLANATION:

Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s

Height (h) = 19.6 m

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s2

Now,

First, we have to calculate the time which the coconut took to fall on the ground from the tree.

So now,

h = ut + 1/2 gt2

=> h = 0*t + 1/2 * 9.8 * t2

=> h = 4.9 *  t2

=>  t2 = h/4.9

=> t2 = 19.6/4.9

=> t2 = 4

=> t = 2 seconds

                                                      =343.85 m/s
