A monochromatic ray of light passes from air to
glass. The wavelength of light in air is lambda, the speed
of light in air is c and in glass is V. If the refractive
index of glass is 1.5, write down (a) the relationship
between c and V, (b) the wavelength of light in glass.

Answer:

a) The relation between speed of light in air c and in glass v is given by c/v = absolute refractive index of glass = 1.5

(b) The wavelength of light in glass (λ1) μ = λ/λ1 = λ/1.5

Answer:

Hey here is your answer...

refractive index =1.5

wavelength of air=lamda(symbol as you studied)

speed of light in air =c(3×10^8m/s)

speed of light in glass =V

(mew)symbol of refractive index =c/V

1.5=3×10^8/V

V=3×10^8/1.5

= 2×10^8

V=c/lamda

lamda^2=c/V^2

3×10^8/2×10^8 (10^8 cutted)

3/2

= 1.5V
